Hi Kim:
Just wanted to say hello to you and your family. Love you and miss you. By the way, do you have a link to email on this website? Did I miss it? Would love to hang with you guys. Batman misses you too. Alicia

Provocative articles. As a teacher, I feel enormous pressure to get my kids to perform at grade level on tests. My weekly schedule, pre-set by my school site, contains no science, social studies, PE, music or art. It's all reading, writing, math, and English-language instruction. I feel like I'm going to be found out if I squeeze an art project in. I want my kids to know how to read, but I also want them to enjoy school and be eager to learn. "Hey kids, today we get to learn about base words and the dictionary! It's going to be really fun!" All these hours -- I question the long term effect of these choices and the pressure to perform. Are they even being considered? And yet No Child Left Behind is our current reality and the pressures it brings with it. ALL kids performing at grade level in reading and math. Period.
